Open Committees

Ambassadors
Advocates for business community cohesion and membership in the Chamber. Ambassadors actively reach out to the business community through phone calls and personal visits, and serve as facilitators of networking at Chamber events. Ambassadors are important by way of informing people of what the Chamber can do to assist them, as well as listening for problems and concerns to bring back to the Chamber directors. Ambassadors get lots of 'built-in' networking opportunities.

Economic Development Committee (EDC)
Focuses on developments which will bring jobs and economic opportunity to the area; battles against anti-business proposals on local and state levels; seeks to foster small businesses and entrepreneurs; and much more. Major success in 2009 included halting the toll hikes. Some current discussion topics include expanded gambling, waterfront development, and creating a small business incubator.

Fundraising Committee
Aims to help raise operating funds for the Chamber. Other than membership dues, the Chamber brings in revenue through creative and entertaining fundraising events and other initiatives, including the annual $10,000 Dinner and Golf Tournament. This committee is responsible for creating and implementing these ideas, essential to keeping the Chamber in business (for business).

Eastie Women Connect (EWC)
Provides a forum for women of all ages to connect and expand their networks, make professional contacts, hear stimulating presentations from business professionals and optimize their success in the marketplace. Although it is women-driven, many of the group's panelist forums, workshops, and networking sessions are just as valuable to members of both genders. This is arguably the Chamber's fast-growing and most popular initiative at the moment.
